Foghorn Elegy
I’m a where person.
This is according to a theory my friend Sophia recently posed that, after surveying several people, seems to ring true.
The theory goes that we’re either who people, what people, or where people. That is, one of these is the predominating factor behind where you go, what you do, or who you choose to do it with. It’s what drives your decision making.
If I wanted to show you the Instagram version of myself, my idealized self-image, I would say I’m a who person. I love quite a few who’s and want to think I’d put them above all else and make decisions around them.
The truth is, I want to be a who person, but I’m not.
I make my decisions regardless of the who’s in my life because I feel that wherever I go and whatever I do, I carry them with me, and that’s enough for me. For who people, it’s not.
But I’m not a who person.
